You Design It!

I'm feeling rather experimental in this cold dead of winter...

One of these days, I will have a specially coordinated cross-country get-up!  What would you design for us?
Here are your parameters (there aren't many):
Colors - my favorite is purple! - also considering burgundy, hunter green, or navy
Seriously, I'm reviewing your considerations for everything from shirts/breeches/vest to pads/boots/bridles accents/bling.  I know you all have fun and creative ways to dress it up or personalize your look, and there are really no rules when it comes to XC!

Perhaps you see a better color combination for us?  Feel free to leave your dream XC attire for us in the comments, or you can e-mail your detailed description with pictures or drawings or sketches or whatever your creative mind desires to:

OK! Go!

  1. I think burgundy would look great.

  2. I'm rooting for burgundy or purple, I really think the burgundy would make her coloring just pop out since she has so much red in her hair.

  3. I'm listening, and I hear the votes for burgundy, but how would you implement that? Just throw a burgundy a/p pad up there? Or would you custom order a tipperary vest? Would you seek out fancy breeches? Would you get custom embroidery or trim? Would you splash "Fancy Pony" or something wherever you found room?

    1. I'm a tack obsessed person so that question is totally silly for me. ;) BURGUNDY ALL THE THINGS. I have a burgundy english pad with my horse's name on it, a pair of burgundy polos, burgundy splint boots, burgundy vest, burgundy shirts, but I stick with jeans when I ride. I don't think I'd do the burgundy breeches though, it may look weird with the pad..I think white or cream colored would look awesome. :)

    2. LMAO!! This is what I tend to do with the purple! I even have a purple biothane bridle and reins, just because it is fun!!

  4. I love how purple and hunter green look together. Purple pad with green piping. White shirt for you. Purple vest with green piping, and purple helmet cover with green stripes or stars or whatevers. I'm not too big on the matchy-matchy though, so maybe just the vest and helmet cover and she can wear a fancy Ecogold shaped pad.

  5. I agree with burgundy, purple + green makes me think of the Incredible Hulk.

    1. I'm commenting like crazy....but those are my colors and we proudly sport the "Hulk" name when we go ANYWHERE. They look adorable together though. :)

  6. I am ubber conservative so would avoid purple (though it is one of my favorite colors). Burgundy would be super classy and I feel like it is rarely seen. It is also my almamaters color ;).

I personally opted for black vests but can splash color with tape on boots or a saddle pad. You could even get a fun custom pad. There are so many options!

  7. I am also uber conservative when it comes to colors, so I would go Burgundy. It would look great on her! I did a white pad with hunter green trim for XC this year, with a green vest (because it was $50 on eBay!), and that was all the color we had.

    1. Yup, I'm currently in the "this color because that was in my budget" camp. I also pick my pieces up one at a time, so I will be most successful with a firm end plan in place. Without that, it's so easy to get off track and grab that awesome purple pad... only to discover it doesn't actually go with anything... LOL
