FYI - on the driving front

She dragged a tire.  She dragged it all over the arena and through the snow drifts, and across the bare sand...

The traces hung between her hocks and her fetlocks, and when she turned enough that they hit her legs, she just ignored them while she pulled onward.

A few times, the traces popped off of my rigged singletree...  Because I wanted a quick-release option in case things didn't go well...

And she didn't pay that any mind, either!!

I apologize for the lack of photographic evidence.  I do realize that if there aren't photos then it didn't really happen...  But, I insist!  It happened!  I love this mare!!

She was way more interested in getting to look at her neighbors (whom she hadn't been able to see in 2 days!) than anything which may or may not have been going on behind her.  We're ready to hook to the cart!

...You know...
...as soon as the snow melts...

  1. Yay! That is awesome! Especially great that things can happen, like traces all around her legs and popping off the single tree with no issue. Sounds like she will make a great driving mare :)

    1. I'm beginning to think that I've thrown so much crazy stuff at her, she has decided it's just easier to roll with it that to bother reacting to it...

  3. What a good girl! Connor knows how to drive, but I don't have the equipment. You're lucky!

    1. I must admit, I'm borrowing EVERYTHING!
My paren'ts loaned me the harness, and the barn owner is letting me borrow her cart. She has been helping me find more resources to continue learning the finer points of driving and training to drive. We're planning a trip to one of the local Amish farms so I can meet an expert and learn from him. Additionally, she has been telling me all about the best auctions to go to where I can find good equipment at reasonable prices!!
I feel very fortunate to have these opportunities! =D
